Stewart J. Auslander

Recognizing that people are often at their worst when he meets them, Stewart J. Auslander works to educate his client's about their legal rights so they can make an informed decision when it comes to resolving all issues (whether through litigation or settlement) involved in a dissolution of marriage or parentage action.

Stewart J. Auslander is a litigator who has practiced in the field of domestic relations since 2003. Mr. Auslander successfully negotiated settlements or litigated issues involving complex financial matters, including business and real estate valuations, maintenance (formerly alimony) and child support calculations and child custody issues.

Prior to establishing the Law Offices of Stewart J. Auslander LLC, Mr. Auslander worked at Schiller DuCanto & Fleck LLP ("SDF"), the country's preeminent firm focusing on matrimonial matters. While at SDF, Mr. Auslander honed his skills working alongside and learning from some of Chicago's top divorce litigators.

In addition to representing the traditional litigants, Stewart J. Auslander is approved by the Circuit Court of Cook County and the Circuit Court of Lake County to represent minor children who are the subject of custody disputes between their parents. As a child advocate, Mr. Auslander is trusted by Judges to protect the interests of the children who often do not have a voice in the system

Jennifer Schufreider

Jennifer ("Jen") Schufreider is an Associate attorney at the Law Offices of Stewart J. Auslander LLC. Jen focuses her practice exclusively on family law matters, including divorce, property division, allocation of parental rights and responsibilities (formerly custody and visitation), parentage, maintenance, child support, prenuptial agreements and post-decree issues.

Jen graduated cum laude from the Miami University Honors Program in 2010, where she earned a B.A. in History and a B.A. in English Literature. Jen received her J.D. from Loyola University of Chicago School of Law in 2013. While in law school, Jen was the symposium editor of the Children’s Legal Rights Journal and earned a certificate in Child and Family Law. Jen also received the Leadership and Service Award and the Public Interest Award.

Prior to joining the Law Offices of Stewart J. Auslander, Jen clerked for a commercial litigation firm and had an externship with a federal judge in the Northern District of Illinois. Jen sought a position in family law after taking several family law classes and realizing she had a passion for family law and the practice fit her personality and skillset. Jen joined the Law Offices of Stewart J. Auslander LLC as a law clerk while still attending law school and became an Associate attorney subsequent to her admission to the Illinois Bar in 2013.

Outside the office, Jen is actively involved in the Alzheimer’s Association. She is a member of the Alzheimer’s Association of Illinois’ Junior Board and is the co-chair of the Chicago Walk to End Alzheimer’s Planning Committee.
